Optimus Prime Cakeoptimus

This cake was for a 4yr old birthday that was Transformer themed and all he wanted was an Optimus Prime cake (newer version). This cake was a milestone for me because 1) it is the longest cake I have created, 2) longest time to construct one cake because of the precise measurements and fitting geometrical shapes together, 3) first time I have used chocolate as a medium with cake.

The 6 wheels were made from Guittards Coating chocolate, so its a solid piece of chocolate and glued onto the cake with chocolate, not royal icing.

Everything is edible except for the silver poles (Popsicle sticks and PVC pipes).

I bought the toy so I can have a model to try to resemble it. See the size comparison?! This cake was 18 in long, about 7 in high (highest point) and 9 in wide (at its widest)

The birthday greeting was created in Photoshop and printed on edible ink printer.
